AUGUST CHALLENGE......

Boy, was I sweating it. August was rapidly flying by and I was getting no stamping time in. But I forgot how quickly a card can come together when you have a sketch and colors to guide you. Here is the challenge for the August Simply Paper Design Challenge:

And this is what I came up with:

I used the adorable little turtle out of the Fox and Friends set. I stamped him twice, cutting out his shell and raising it up on dimensionals. I used four punches to get my sentiment shape: Scallop Oval, Large Oval, the now retired other oval and the Small Oval. The sentiment itself is from the retired Tiny Talk. The whole card was softened up with Very Vanilla satin ribbon and a few well placed pearls.

I even prettied up the insides:

Now, don't forget to head over and see what Cindy did with the challenge here. I also noticed that Debbie tried the challenge out here. Great cards, ladies!!!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!!!

SUMMER, WE'RE GONNA MISS YA.......

Where in the world did August go???? Where in the world did summer go???? My August turned out to be super busy. This post is so that I can prove, in pictures, that I have not been goofing off (most of the time, anyway). The picture above is from our beach trip. It was a bit warm, but we loved our week there.

Then, as soon as we returned, soccer practices started. This pic is of my daughter (in blue) at a practice tournament with her travel team. This is our first time doing travel, so it is a real eye-opener for us. My son is playing on a rec team, but they will not start games until September.

Then, along comes the first day of school. The kids were actually excited to be going back. Here they are getting ready to catch the bus.

This last picture is of my son at his SOL Awards program. He received medals for getting perfect scores on 2 of the 3 SOL tests they took last year. They were for math and Virginia studies (history). He was the only one in his grade at his school that had a perfect score on the history test. We are so proud of him. (In case you are wondering, he takes after his mother.)

And to top all of that off, I am taking my girl to get braces today. Wow, she is growing up so fast --- both of them are. I feel so old now. I'm going to take a nap.............

Check back tomorrow to see my card for the August Simply Paper Design Challenge.........

Have a great day!!!!

JULY CHALLENGE.......

It's that time again --- the Simply Paper Design challenge for July. You can find Cindy's card here and the original challenge post here. Being for July, of course the colors were red (Real Red), white (Whisper White) and blue (Pacific Point). And, being July, it's all about the fireworks. Even at my age, I am still in awe of fireworks. The stamp set I used is the retired July Fourth. I love all of the stars. The card is pretty simple. The base is Real Red, layered with Pacific Point and then a Whisper White panel covered in RR and PP "firework" bursts. It is wrapped with RR ribbon with a strip of PP layered on top of it (both retired). The center is a bunch of punched circles mounted on dimensionals. The stars were stamped, punched, and bradded (is that a word? can it be?), then also mounted with dimensionals. How easy can you get?

I really don't have much of a call for a 4th of July card, but I do have a friend with a 4th of July birthday (and yes, she is quite the firecracker). So, I changed up the sentiment with one from the Oval All set and --- presto, chango --- birthday card!!!

Happy Birthday to Delores!!! and Happy Birthday to the USA!!!

Ya'll come back now, ya hear???
